Hayoung Lee

Hayoung Lee is a South Korean cellist. She completed the Young Artists Program at the Korea National University of Arts and studied at the same institution under Kangho Lee, Hyejin Wang, and Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi.

She won First Prize and a Special Prize at the David Popper International Cello Competition, and has also received First Prizes at major national competitions in Korea, including the JoongAng Music Competition, the Ewha–Kyunghyang Music Competition, the Busan Music Competition, and the Shinhan Music Award.

Lee made her recital debut in 2017 as a Kumho Young Artist. She has since appeared in solo performances at venues including the Korean Cultural Center in Berlin and the Korean Cultural Center in Hungary. She has also performed with orchestras including the Busan Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra, and the TIMF Ensemble Orchestra.

She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Germany at the Karlsruhe University of Music, where she studies with László Fenyö.
