Praised for his 'fantastic technique and great intensity' (Gustav Rivinius), Armenian cellist Mikayel Voskanyan is rapidly establishing himself on the international stage.
The 2025/26 season was highlighted by Voskanyan's debut at Muziekgebouw Eindhoven, where he presented a rigorous program featuring works by Prokofiev, Debussy, and Schnittke. His season further includes a significant chamber music engagement in March 2026, joining esteemed colleagues Lisa Jacobs, Razvan Popovici, and Cătălin Şerban.
Voskanyan has shared the stage with many of the world's most distinguished artists, including Boris Brovtsyn, Shunske Sato, Kristóf Baráti, Nabil Shehata, and Alexander Chaushian.
His performances have appeared at prestigious international venues, including the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall, Teatro Marrucino, Theater aan het Vrijthof, and Stevenson Hall.
Following initial studies in Armenia, Mikayel is currently in the class of Professor Alexander Chaushian at the Conservatorium Maastricht. He has also developed his artistry through masterclasses with cellists, including Steven Isserlis, Frans Helmerson, Jens Peter Maintz, Gustav Rivinius, Quirine Viersen, Johannes Moser, and Marc Coppey.
