In 2012, Noah Lee, at 12 years of age, caused an international sensation by winning 1st prize at the 7th International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians in Montreux, Switzerland, becoming the first and only cellist, from the United States, to be given this honor. In 2014, in a field of 82 cellists from 22 countries, he won the grand prize at the 10th International Cello Competition “Antonio Janigro” in Porec, Croatia. There, he received the Zagreb Management Award as well as the Zagreb Soloists Award.
Subsequently, Noah performed a solo, European recital debut, and a solo debut with the Zagreb Soloists. Additionally, he has been featured as a soloist in various concert series with the Bravura Philharmonic Orchestra, Ensemble 212, Lausanne Sinfonietta, Russian State Orchestra, and Princeton Symphony Orchestra. In November of 2019, he was invited to solo with the Seongnam Philharmonic Orchestra in the Seongnam Arts Center in South Korea, performing the Dvorak Cello Concerto, under the baton of Maestro Kum Nanse. Noah is currently pursuing a Master of Performance with Danjulo Ishizaka at the Musik-Akademie Basel. He earned an A.B. in Economics from Harvard College and an M.M. in Cello Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music. Past influential teachers include Laurence Lesser, Richard Aaron, Soo Youn Lee, Hans Jensen, and Jens Peter Maintz.
